About Papers Aloud
Papers aloud is primarily a database of ‘Papers’ (academic papers, journal articles, essays and book chapters) in compressed audio format available for download. From the homepage any visitor will be able to search through the database for any topic, author or subject and find audio papers to instantly download and listen to.
In order to make this possible we also rely on the support of a large community base who actively participate in our forum to suggest papers, request rights to reprint copyright papers, read the papers into a recording device, and upload the papers to the database. The forums also function as a place of discussion over the papers available or any topic of interest.
By registering as a member at Papers Aloud you can post on the forum, request papers and volunteer to read papers as well as setting up a general profile which allows you to save your favourite papers, create “Reading Lists”. Reading lists are self made lists of papers in the database, all viewable on a single page, and downloadable in a single compressed file.
Creating reading lists can be very useful if you want to recommend a collection of papers to friends, if you want to download a group of papers in one download, or if you are from an educational institute and you have a list of readings for your students. Each reading list you create will have its own unique URL which can be emailed to friends, or printed on hand out sheets for students. Students will be able to simply enter the URL and will instantly have access to the entire reading list in an Audio format.
